THE TRUTH BEHIND THE SCRIPTURE
The Law and the Prophets "hang" or depend on these two commandments, love God and love your neighbor. This is made crystal clear in 1 Corinthians 13. In verse 2, it is made perfectly clear how important love of God and our neighbor has to be to everyone. "And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity [love], I am nothing. "
Our love for God and mankind does not replace or do away with the Law or the Prophets.
STRONG'S EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE:
LOVE...To love, wish well to, take pleasure in, long for; denotes the love of reason, esteem. Perhaps from agan; to love.
HEART...Prolonged from a primary kar; the heart, i.e. the thoughts or feelings; also the middle.
SOUL...From psucho; breath, i.e. spirit, abstractly or concretely.
MIND... From dia and nous; deep thought, properly, the faculty, by implication, its exercise.
LAW...From a primary nemo; law, genitive case, specially, (including the volume); also of the Gospel), or figuratively.
PROPHETS...From a compound of pro and phemi; a foreteller; by analogy, an inspired speaker; by extension, a poet.
HANG...To hang, hang up, suspend; mid: To be hanging, hang. A prolonged form of a primary verb; to hang.
COMMANDMENTS...An ordinance, injunction, command, law. From entellomai; injunction, i.e. An authoritative prescription.
