This scripture 2 Chronicles 7:14, was used as a quote in a speech by the Vice President of the United States: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

There are FIVE steps to this scripture. 1...You have to be God's people that are called by God's name. 2...You must humble yourself. 3...You must pray. 4...Seek God's face, which denotes a personal relationship with God. 5...Turn from your wicked ways. And then, and only then, will God hear you from Heaven, forgive you for your sins and then He will heal your land (your nation).

There was a huge problem with this quote. The Vice President left out a key part of having our sins forgiven. And that was number 5, "turn from their wicked ways". Repentance gets results with God. Repentance is turning from our wicked ways.
