WISE SHALL SHINE -Daniel 12:3
THE STORY BEHIND THE SCRIPTURE
Perhaps one of the most profound and overlooked scriptures in the Bible, Daniel 12:3 contains some very deep understanding about one's potential eternal future.
Who are the wise? They are many definitions of the word wise, wə·ham·maś·ki·lîm, the key ones being: to be prudent, be circumspect, wisely understand, have insight, ponder, be prudent, have comprehension, teach, the teachers.
What does it mean to shine? yaz·hi·rū means 1) to admonish, warn, teach, shine, send out light, be light, be shining, to be taught, be admonished, to teach, warn .
"To turn many" is better translated "and those who lead many". The Hebrew word, hā·rab·bîm, can be also translated "captain, chief"
To be a captain or a chief of turning many, or be "those who lead many" to righteousness has a great reward. Righteousness, ū·maṣ·dî·qê, translates to be just, be righteous, to have a just cause, be in the right, to be just (of God), be righteous (in conduct and character), make someone righteous, to do or bring justice (in administering law).
"Shining like the stars forever" has a very interesting translation. "Stars", the Hebrew, kak·kō·w·ḵā·ḇîm, translates as: star 1a) of Messiah, brothers, youth, numerous progeny, personification, God's omniscience (fig.)
The reward for being a captain or chief, a teacher of righteousness, a teacher that warns is to shine as or like the Messiah. "There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:" -1 Corinthians 15:41-42 "And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly". -1 Corinthians 15:49
