THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

What Sophocles did not understand is that wisdom is part of having a sound mind.  A sound mind brings peace and happiness.

Job 12:12... "Is not wisdom found among the aged?  Does not long life bring understanding"?

Proverbs 1:7... "The fear of the Eternal is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction".

Proverbs 4:6-7... "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this:  Get wisdom.  Though it cost all you have, get understanding".

Ecclesiastes 2:26... For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit".

Sophocles. 497-406 BC, is one of three ancient Greek tragedians whose plays have survived. His first plays were written later than or contemporary with those of Aeschylus, and earlier than or contemporary with those of Euripides. Sophocles wrote over 120 plays during the course of his life, but only seven have survived in a complete form: Ajax, Antigone, Women of Trachis, Oedipus Rex, Electra, Philoctetes and Oedipus at Colonus. For almost 50 years, Sophocles was the most celebrated playwright in the dramatic competitions of the city-state of Athens that took place during the religious festivals of the Lenaea and the Dionysia. He competed in 30 competitions, won 24, and was never judged lower than second place.
